The need for actionable meteorological and hydrologic information continues to grow, as communities work to improve predictions and projections of the natural system and assess risks from weather hazards. Downscaled data is indispensible to this need, providing data at the scales needed by a broad community of stakeholders, practitioners and other end-users. Efforts are now underway to organize a community of practice around downscaled data products, develop standards, and make data more available and usable. If you are interested in joining this community please contact paullrich@ucdavis.edu.
Downscaling Workstream Telecon Series: Held on the fourth Monday of each month 12pm PT. Topics addressed include data production methods, standardization, observational data, bias adjustment, benchmarking, evaluation, data quality, derived products, data synthesis, uncertainty quantification, visualization, analysis, provisioning, co-production, and end-user needs.
Catalog of Downscaled Data Products: A major initiative of the downscaling workstream is to catalog available downscaled products and develop expert guidance on the appropriate use of those products.
This project is supported by a contract from the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) under Project NH24-8916.
